Our neighbors asked us to teach the children in the neighborhood English. We let them know we are not professionally trained ESL teachers but we would give it a try! We had no idea the joy and fun this little class would bring. Keeping it Simple was important for us and them. They don’t speak Spanish!

Our first 6 weeks we had an average of 12 children and one young father, Humberto,  who brings his 5 year old daughter and works with her both in class and at home.

Our experience working with children in church and Celeste’s experience as a Children’s Pastor were great foundation for both the curriculum and how the class ran. Our last class of the year we had a piñata party.

The children recited the English they had learned for parents, grandparents, neighbors, aunts and friends and then all the children participated in the piñata game and singing the song! We had no idea there was a song! So fun!

You will love Phil trying to protect himself from the wild swings and take pictures at the same time! We started our second 6 week session on January 5, 2022 and will end with a valentines party!
